Refer a friend: give a month, get a month

Someone asks what you use to keep track of your money. You tell them. From today that conversation comes with something attached: their first month free, and a month of your plan back to you once they have subscribed. The referral programme is live on the web, and your code is already waiting in your account.

What your friend gets

Their first month, free. They sign up with your code, take the usual trial, and when they subscribe a month of their plan comes off their first invoice. On the annual plan that is a month's worth off the first year. Nothing to type at checkout, the discount is applied on its own. And if they use your link rather than the code, the code is filled in for them at signup.

What you get

A month of your own plan, as credit, for every friend who subscribes and stays. It comes off your next invoice, or off your renewal if you pay annually. Refer five friends who subscribe and there is a bonus credit on top. Ten, and another. The Refer a friend page keeps a running tally, so you always know what has landed and what is on its way.

Where to find your code

Open the user menu and choose Refer a friend. Your code sits at the top with a copy button, and there is a link you can copy instead, which does the same job with less typing for your friend. A smaller card on My Account shows the code as well, with the next credit due. Below the code, every referral is listed with where it stands: on trial, subscribed, credited, and the date your credit lands.

The mobile app gets its own Refer a friend screen with the next app update. Until then the code lives on the web, and it works for friends who sign up on either.

A word on notifications

Every step shows up in the app: a message when a friend signs up with your code, when they subscribe, and when your credit is applied. Emails for the same events are off unless you switch them on under App Settings. Your inbox has enough in it already.
