Exporting your data

Your data leaves as easily as it arrived. That is a promise worth documenting, not just making.

The full export

In My Account, under Data & Privacy, the Export My Data button downloads a ZIP of CSV files covering everything: accounts, transactions, categories, payees, budgets, scheduled transactions, goals, assets, securities and security transactions, plus your bank and investment connection records and API key metadata where you use those features. It satisfies your GDPR right to portability, and more practically, it is the complete offline copy for whatever you want next.

  • The transactions file preserves structure: split parents, transfer links and refund relationships all carry columns, so complex records survive the trip to a spreadsheet.
  • Transactions carry their category as a Parent > Child path, and the categories file keeps the hierarchy in its own columns, so nothing flattens on the way out.
  • Exports are limited to ten per hour; a "too many export requests" message just means wait a few minutes.

The lighter tools

A full export is rarely the right tool for one question. The Detailed Transactions report exports its filtered view to CSV, which handles the accountant, the tax season and the single-category audit. And for anything ongoing, the API serves live data continuously, which beats re-downloading ZIPs on a schedule.

Export before you delete

If you are leaving, export first; account deletion is genuinely final about your data, which is exactly what deletion should be. The ZIP is your copy of the years you spent here, and we would rather you leave with it than without.

What next

Nothing else to know; export is deliberately the simplest feature in the product. The complexity all lives in what you do with the files.
