Connecting DEGIRO

A DEGIRO connection usually drops about a day after you connect it. Here is why, what keeps working while it is down, and how to keep it connected if you want to.

Why it drops about once a day

DEGIRO asks for a second confirmation whenever something logs in to your account from somewhere new: an approval in the DEGIRO app (its default), a code by SMS, or a code from an authenticator app. Your connection logs in again each time its session ends, roughly once a day, and only you can approve in the app or read the SMS. So unless the connection can produce that code itself, it stops until you reconnect.

What keeps working while it is down

Values stay current. Shares and funds we can match to a market listing are priced every day from market data, not from DEGIRO, so their value keeps moving while the connection is down.
Nothing is lost. When you reconnect, the trades, dividends and cash movements from the time in between come in.
What waits: new trades, dividends, deposits, withdrawals and fees only arrive once the connection is back.

If that suits you, simply reconnect whenever you want the account up to date: Reconnect on the DEGIRO card in Manage Connections. We send you a message each time the connection drops; you can dismiss it.

Keeping it connected

The connection can produce DEGIRO's login codes itself, but only if you give it the key that an authenticator app uses:

In DEGIRO, change your two-factor method to an authenticator app (such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator).
While you set it up, DEGIRO shows a QR code, usually with an option to show the key as text. Copy that key, and add it to your own authenticator app as well, so you can keep logging in to DEGIRO yourself.
In Endute, open Manage Connections and click Reconnect on your DEGIRO connection. When the connection screen asks for your two-factor details, enter the key.

Decide before you share the key

That key together with your DEGIRO password is everything needed to log in to your DEGIRO account, trading included. Endute only ever reads your holdings and transactions, but our connection partner keeps both so it can log in on your behalf. Use this option only if you are comfortable with that; reconnecting when you want an update is the alternative.

Switching DEGIRO's two-factor off is not an option: DEGIRO requires it for new logins, and we would not recommend it anyway.
