The debt payoff planner
Plan your route to debt-free and see how extra payments bring the day closer. Real balances, real rates, no spreadsheet.
What it works from
Debt Payoff in the sidebar (beta, web only) reads your loan and credit card accounts directly: current balances, interest rates and APRs, minimum-payment definitions, and promotional rates with their end dates. Nothing is re-entered; a debt set up properly in its account is a debt the planner already understands, promo cliff and all.
Strategies, compared on your numbers
The planner projects five payoff strategies. The famous two lead: Avalanche, the default, sends extra money at the highest rate first and wins on mathematics; Snowball clears the smallest balance first, banking quick early wins for momentum, and wins on psychology more often than spreadsheets admit. A cash-flow strategy and others round out the comparison, each projected against your actual debts so the differences are in months and money, not theory. The planner highlights the method it would suggest for your situation, and adopting any strategy from the comparison is one click.
The extra-payment lever
The Extra monthly payment field is where the plan becomes yours: enter what you could genuinely spare and the debt-free countdown, total interest and savings delta recalculate. A frequency toggle beside it switches to biweekly, which squeezes in an extra payment a year. A What-If explorer lets you test amounts without committing, which is often the most motivating five minutes on the page, since the difference between zero extra and fifty a month is usually measured in years.
The date is a consequence of your data
What next
The Debt Overview report tracks the descent month by month, and the extra payment has to come from somewhere: the budget is where it gets found.
