Cross-currency transfers
The one transfer where the two legs legitimately disagree, and how to keep both of them true.
Two amounts, both real
Send £500 to a euro account and the euro side receives some number of euros decided by the rate and the fees along the way. Both figures are facts, and a truthful ledger records each leg in its own account's currency. Endute does exactly that: the source leg holds the pounds, the destination leg holds the euros, and each remembers what the other side was.
Recording one
Pick a To Account in another currency and the dialog grows three fields. Est. Dest. Amount shows an estimate at the rate for the transfer's date, purely for orientation. Actual Dest. Amount is where truth goes: once you know what actually arrived, from your transfer service's receipt or the destination bank's statement, enter it and both legs are exact. An optional Exchange Rate field serves the case where you know the rate but not the final figure, and the dialog is explicit that an actual amount beats a rate when both are filled.
The estimate is not the answer
Actual Dest. Amount; the thirty seconds of looking it up buys a balance you never have to reconcile. When both banks report it
With both accounts connected, each side's bank reports its own leg in its own currency, and the amounts will not match numerically, which is precisely correct. Pair them during review like any transfer; the pairing keeps each leg's native amount and records the counterpart's currency and value on both sides. If a pair like this ends up unmatched, marking one side as a transfer and choosing the counterpart account sets it right.
What reports do with them
Like all transfers, cross-currency pairs stay out of spending and budgets. Where they show is in balances and net worth, where each account contributes in its own currency and Endute converts to your base reporting currency for the totals. A transfer that lost value to fees shows up plainly as a small dip in combined worth, because that is what happened.
