Report filters, currency, and drilling down
A report you cannot interrogate is a poster. These are the handles.
Scoping the question
Every report page carries date-range and filter controls suited to its subject: accounts, categories, payees or tags depending on the report. The craft is in matching the scope to the question. Comparing this quarter to last wants identical ranges; judging a category wants tracking noise out, which Endute already handles, since tracking-only accounts never enter reports at all.
The currency picker
The Currency selector offers your base currency plus each currency your accounts hold, and re-expresses the whole report without touching the data. Conversion honours history, each transaction at its own date's rate, so switching currencies changes the denomination, never the story. The full rules live in the FX guide.
Drilling into a number
On the spending reports (by category and by payee) and the Needs, Wants, Savings view, the headline figures open up: click one and a drawer lists exactly the rows that make it up, reconciled so the drawer's total matches the number you clicked. This is the fastest route from "that looks wrong" to knowing whether it is: a surprising category total usually resolves to one misfiled transaction, visible and fixable within the drawer's list. For reports without the drawer, the Detailed Transactions report with matching filters is the manual equivalent.
Trust, but verify cheaply
Keeping and exporting
Save As...(speltSave Report As...on a few pages) keeps a filter combination as a custom report in the sidebar, which lists the first ten.- The Detailed Transactions report exports to CSV, the escape hatch for spreadsheets, accountants and anyone who wants the raw rows elsewhere. For programmatic access, the API serves the same data live.
What next
The reports tour maps which report answers which question, and Insights is the report that reads itself.
