Connecting your bank

A few minutes at your bank's own login, one mapping step, and your transactions arrive on their own from then on.

Before you start

Two things worth knowing up front. First, your bank credentials are entered directly with your bank or our regulated banking partners; they are never shared with or stored by Endute. Second, you only need one connection per bank. When your bank shows you a list of accounts to share, select everything you intend to track, because adding an account you skipped means authorising again later.

The connection flow

Go to Manage Connections in the sidebar and click Link New Bank. Pick your country (we cover the UK, the US, Canada and most of Europe), then search for your bank by name. Depending on the bank, Endute either redirects you to your bank's own login page or opens a secure connection widget. Either way you authorise there, approve the accounts to share, and land back in Endute. Cancelling midway is safe: no accounts or transactions are created, though an unfinished connection entry may linger on Manage Connections, where cutting it takes one click.

Mapping: the step that decides where your data goes

Back in Endute, the Map Your Authorized Bank Accounts dialog lists each account your bank shared and asks where it should live. For every account you have three choices:

  • Create new and map, the usual default: Endute creates a matching account so the balance counts towards your net worth from day one. A Customise button lets you adjust the details before it is created. (Accounts whose currency or type the bank left unclear start on "do not link" instead, with a note explaining why.)
  • Link to an existing account you already track in Endute.
  • Do not link this account for now, for accounts you genuinely do not want in Endute.

Already tracking this account manually? Map to it

If an account already exists in Endute with hand-entered history, pick it in the mapping list rather than creating a new one. You keep your history and the bank feed simply takes over from there. Creating a new account alongside the old one is the classic route to a duplicate, with the same money counted twice and a cleanup job later. The dialog pre-selects your previous mappings when you reconnect, so this mostly matters the first time.

Click Save Mappings and Endute fetches your recent transactions. If a decent stretch of history is available, the import preview opens next, and the first week guide covers that step. Otherwise a toast confirms how many transactions arrived for review.

Bank quirks the flow handles for you

  • Vague account types. Some banks do not say what kind of account they are sharing. Endute creates those as current accounts and tells you so; if one is really a credit card or loan, change the type during mapping so your net worth stays right.
  • Balance-only accounts. Savings pots and spaces (a Monzo pot, a Starling space) come through as balance-only: your bank keeps their balance up to date but does not share their transactions over open banking. The spending itself appears on your main account.
  • Unsupported accounts. If your bank shares an account type Endute cannot import, we say so with a count, both at mapping time and later on the connection card, so a missing account is never a silent mystery.
  • Investments. Bank connections only pull your Checking/Current, Savings, Credit Card and Loan accounts, where your institution exposes them. Brokerage and investment accounts connect separately through Link Investments (currently in beta), which syncs holdings as well as cash.

What next

Once connected, syncing runs on its own; the companion guides cover what syncs and what doesn't and what to do when a connection stops working. If your bank is missing from the search or the connection fails repeatedly, contact support with the bank's name and country, and we will look at it directly.
