Connecting E*Trade
Brokerage and retirement accounts at E*Trade connect normally. Two things to know first, especially if your E*Trade account holds shares from an employer plan.
Stock plan accounts cannot be connected
Stock plan accounts (RSUs, an employee share purchase plan, employer stock options) cannot be connected at the moment, and neither can E*Trade bank accounts. If a stock plan is your only E*Trade account, the connection completes but stays empty. Some other employer-linked accounts come through and some do not.
Tracking a stock plan anyway
Connect each account once
An E*Trade account can hold only one active connection through the service we connect with: connecting the same account again switches the earlier connection off, and that can include another app that uses the same service. If the connection breaks, use Reconnect on the existing card in Manage Connections rather than adding E*Trade again. Logging in to E*Trade's website or its Android app does not affect it.
What to expect
- The connection lasts weeks, so expect to reconnect now and then. We message you when it drops, and nothing is lost: the time in between comes in when you reconnect.
- Tracking starts on the day you connect. Your holdings come in as they stand, at the average cost E*Trade reports (or that day's price where it reports none); trades, dividends and cash movements are tracked from then on.
Something else wrong?
The brokerage sync guide covers mapping and disconnecting. If your figures disagree with E*Trade, tell us.
